As Director of Professional Services, you are accountable for the performance and reputation of our delivery organization across cloud, data, and AI engagements.

This role carries full responsibility for Services Gross Margin, billability, and delivery predictability — while ensuring engineering quality remains uncompromised and aligned with CTO-led standards.

We operate at the highest tier of Google Cloud delivery in the region. Clients expect reliability, depth, and professionalism. This role safeguards that standard in execution. The organization — including engineers — should look up to you for judgment, consistency, and leadership.

Your Mandate

You build and run a high-performance engineering delivery organization structured around Solution Offerings and long-term strategic client engagements.

Your accountability includes:

  • Services Gross Margin (primary KPI): actively managing utilization, staffing mix, and delivery economics
  • Billability & capacity discipline: maintaining forward visibility (60+ days) in close alignment with PMO
  • On-time / on-budget delivery: ensuring squads execute predictably and professionally
  • Engineering culture & quality bar: reinforcing strong technical standards and disciplined execution across teams

You operate where engineering craft meets commercial reality. When delivery performs, the company scales sustainably.

What You’ll Own

Financial & Staffing Discipline

You own the economics of delivery and make informed trade-offs daily.

  • Manage GM and utilization across engineering teams
  • Make staffing decisions across Germany, Hungary, and Indonesia, balancing capability, cost, timing, and margin impact
  • Prioritize in-house staffing as the default operating model
  • Use subcontracting selectively to mitigate short-term delivery risks — understanding that it is margin-dilutive and not the structural solution
  • Ensure Support / Managed Services operates efficiently and contributes positively to overall performance

Delivery System & Operational Excellence

You are accountable for reliability and maturity across squads.

  • Projects must land predictably — recurring firefighting is not acceptable
  • When escalations occur, you lead structured recovery at executive level
  • Enforce reuse of CTO-approved solution blocks and patterns to protect both quality and margin
  • Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives, data analysis, and structural adjustments

Engineering Leadership Across Regions

You lead through Engineering Managers across Hungary and Indonesia.

  • Line-manage EMs and select Tech Leads, building a strong and independent leadership layer
  • Understand and professionally manage cross-cultural dynamics, time zones, and communication differences
  • Ensure consistent standards and expectations regardless of geography
  • Appoint Tech Leads together with EMs and ensure clear technical ownership
  • Leverage Staff and Principal engineers effectively across engagements
  • Build an organization where engineers take pride in quality and ownership

This is a visible leadership role. Engineers should respect your technical judgment. Executives should trust your numbers.

Who You Are

You may already be a seasoned delivery leader — or a strong, high-potential manager ready to step into broader ownership.

Typically, you bring:

  • Several years of experience in engineering-based delivery or consulting environments
  • A solid technical foundation (cloud, data, AI preferred)
  • Experience leading teams, ideally across multiple locations
  • Practical understanding of how margin, staffing mix, and utilization interact
  • The ambition to grow into larger responsibility while maintaining execution focus

You are structured but not bureaucratic. Commercially aware but not short-sighted. Confident enough to set direction, humble enough to keep learning.

  • A confident, autonomous EM layer across Hungary and Indonesia
