Director, Solution Architecture & Presales
We are looking for a senior, customer-facing Director, Solution Architecture & Presales to lead our technical engagement at the pre-sales stage. This role owns the technical win: shaping compelling solution architectures, engaging with C-level stakeholders, and guiding the presales team in building high-quality proposals and RFP responses.
The Director ensures we bring credible, value-driven solutions to customers, while aligning closely with Sales, Partners, and Delivery. Once opportunities are won, they ensure a smooth handover to delivery architecture and oversee partner alignment on complex deals.
This is a high-visibility role, blending technical depth with commercial acumen and strong leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Solution Architecture & Presales function, managing a team of Solution Architects and senior Presales Engineers.
Own the technical win rate KPI: driving solution quality, credibility, and customer trust in presales engagements. - Shape and review technical proposals, RFPs, and solution architectures, ensuring they meet both customer needs and delivery feasibility.
- Engage directly with customers — from deep technical discussions to executive-level presentations.
- Partner with Sales on account strategy, deal qualification, and positioning.
- Ensure smooth handover to delivery teams, aligning solution design with delivery capacity and standards.
- Manage strategic technology partnerships (e.g., GCP) within the presales context, ensuring joint go-to-market alignment.
- Build and scale presales processes, methodologies, and assets for repeatability.
- Mentor and develop senior Solution Architects and Presales Engineers.
What We’re Looking For
- Significant experience (typically 7+ years) in solution architecture, presales, or consulting, including customer-facing leadership responsibilities.
- Demonstrated success in leading technical teams and guiding solution design in a sales context.
- Strong customer engagement skills, with the ability to present to both technical and executive audiences.
- Proven track record in crafting and winning technical proposals / RFPs.
- Solid understanding of cloud platforms (GCP preferred), data architectures, and modern application ecosystems.
- Ability to balance commercial priorities (margin, scope, pricing) with technical credibility.
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and influencing skills.
Nice to Have
- Deep specialization in cloud, data, or AI solutioning.
- Prior experience working closely with global technology partners (e.g., Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft).
- Exposure to scaling presales in a high-growth services organization.
- German language skills (given customer base in DACH).
